Play Classic Arcade Games on the Arcade Station
You can play classic arcade games on the Arcade Station if you connect a computer and install a free piece of software called MAME, which stands for Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator.
DISCLAIMER
MAME requires ROM's, hard disks, or CD's of original arcade game media. If you would like to use MAME you must have your own, legal copies of the games you wish to use. The following notice is taken from the MAME project's website:
"ROM, CD, and hard disk images are all copyrighted material. They cannot be distributed without the explicit permission of the copyright owner. They are not "abandonware", nor have any of the games supported by MAME passed out of copyright.
MAME is not intended to be used as a tool for mass copyright infringement. Therefore, it is strongly against the authors' wishes to sell, advertise, or link to resources that provide illegal copies of ROM, CD, or hard disk images."
We do not offer technical support for installing or using MAME.
Easy MAME Installation
We do not offer any kind of technical support or warranty relating to the following information. This information is provided purely for informational purposes.
The easiest way to try out MAME is to use the AdvanceMAME CD. The AdvanceMAME CD is a "live cd", which means you place the disk in your CD-ROM drive and reboot your computer. When the computer restarts it will load a special operating system designed specifically for running MAME. When you reboot your computer again and remove the disk, your computer will resume operation as normal. This allows you to experiment with MAME on the Arcade Station without the hassle of installing any software or modifying your computer's operating system.
The AdvanceMAME CD is an open source project, and is totally free for download as a burnable ISO file, which can be burnt to a CD-R using your favorite CD burning software.
Installing MAME for Windows
A version of MAME for Windows is available, called MAME32. If you'd like to use MAME32 this setup guide may be of some help.
